Here is a good Friday night…
This is a picture of the sheet music for a 1930s radio commercial for Jolly Time Popcorn. Below are the lyrics, playing off of the old “jug of wine, a loaf of bread and thou”.
Just a bowl full of pop-corn, a radio and you
Just a chair by the fire place That’s big enough for two
Just a heart-full of happiness
Not a care can break through
With a bowl full of “Jolly Time Pop-Corn,” a radio and you
Jump ahead a couple decades and pop corn commercials hit the silver screen…

I kind of wish we could go back to the day when the radio was like the TV is now. Kids run to the radio to hear their favorite radio program, instead of running to see their latest demon manifest through the manipulative image of vampire, witch, or teeny bopper.
That popcorn is really good, I should say. It’s great on camping trips where popcorn would be an otherwise impossible snack to make.
Keep writing and be blessed,

I agree. I love a good radio program (and popcorn
)! I remember that even when we were little there were several kids radio programs that would tell stories and such on the air. Ever heard of Jungle Jam and Friends? These were wonderful for long mornings of running errands with mother; and they leave so much more to the imagination!
Can’t say that I do, but there was always an Adventures in Odyssey the radio program which Focus on the Family put on as well as another program that featured the matured voices of the Veggie Tales cast; I can’t remember the name of the program though. Unfortunately, I have not heard a radio drama worthy of my attention in a long time. Thankfully, Focus on the Family just came out with The Screwtape Letters radio drama featuring Andy Serkis (Gollum from the Lord of the Rings trilogy).
