I don’t have anything really profound to share tonight–just an amazing experience. My entire family ended up sitting around the bonfire in Adirondack chairs gazing up at the sky this evening. The sky has been rather cloudy lately, but tonight the stars were so fabulously clear. It reminded me of this song “Stars“, by David [...]

The entire house is breathing a huge sigh of relief as my dad finally got home from his two-week trip to India. He met up with some friends of ours there, originally from India, but they have been living here for the last couple of years. Though he is very much a frequent flyer, it [...]

Yes, my gazpacho recipe is indeed POWER-PACKED. It is the fuel-up food of superheroes… and it is delicious. It’s fresher and tastier than V8, with the same amount of vitamin-filled veggies. The recipe is really just a guideline. Feel free to throw in a bit of your own creativity. Cold, crunchy vegetables are the best, [...]
Musical Chair

I must admit that am feeling very accomplished today. I helped my dad wire electricity in the basement, hacked the dead branches off one of our garden trees, hauled tractor-loads of composted soil up the hill (mother ordered 10 cubic yards, so we’re nowhere near finished), made lunch for the “farm” hands, installed a door [...]

I forgot to mention: Operation Thankful Book is in full swing again. Here’s is the link to last year’s post. It’s lots of fun–you still have time to make one (yes, this is specifically directed at you Hannah)!
Strawberry Jam

A farm near our house lets you pick your own berries for $1.50 per pound. After spending a good portion of the morning filling our baskets out in the sun we returned with about three boxes and boiled half of them into strawberry jam; the rest are frozen for later use on pancakes, ice-cream, shortcake and such. We [...]
Country Wandering

This week, as I was clearing my room to be painted a rather unfriendly shade of brown, I chanced upon an old file of papers from middle school. Most of my time at school was spent either in the library or filling notebooks full of free-writing. I have yet to find the full collection of [...]

Here are the results of my “Thankful Book” -one blessing from the Lord for each day of November leading up to Thanksgiving Day (in no particular order):
Nov 1st: First and foremost, I am thankful for God’s gift of Salvation to me and the precious of Jesus that was shed [...]
The Thankful Book

Here’s an idea for the month of November:
For the past few years my sister and I have been making “Thankful Books” during the month leading up to Thanksgiving. It’s just a decorated paper booklet with one page for each day of the month. Every evening we write about one thing we’re thankful for with sketches [...]
