Recommendations: Arranged from most recent to earliest.
- What’s So Amazing About Grace?
Philip Yancey
Profound and beautifully written - The Christian Family
Larry Christenson
Much need not be said with such a straightforward title…
- Stop Dating the Church
Joshua Harris
I actually this by another title, Deje De Coquetear Con La Iglesia. I picked up the Spanish version in San Salvador this summer. It’s great! - Let Me Be a Woman
Elisabeth Elliot
I started this a while ago and just recently re-read the first chapters and finished the book. - The God Who is There
Francis A. Schaeffer
Schaeffer carefully traces the overall decline of western civilizations through philosophy, art, music, and theology from the late 1800’s to the present, revealing the need for Christians of today to familiarize themselves with the basics of apologetics and formal argumentation once again. - The True Measure of a Woman
Lisa Bevere
This is one is obviously directed at a very specific group. Ladies, we’ve all questioned our worth at one time or another. This book was a wonderful reminder that we perform for an audience of One. - How to Respond When You Feel Mistreated
John Bevere
I think the title speaks for itself. John and Lisa Bevere are two favorite speakers of mine and they’re good with a pen as well!
- The Dream Giver
Bruce Wilkinson
What to expect while in pursuit of those dreams that God has placed in your heart. Revealed through the tale of an Ordinary man in a John Bunyan sort of style. - Selected Poems of Alfred Lord Tennyson
Alfred Lord Tennyson
I have too many favorites of his to list, so suggesting his works in general will have to suffice. “In Memoriam” and “Ulysses” I liked particularly, if you happen to come across them. - The Shepherd of the Hills
Harold Bell Wright
A book I picked up on our trip to the Ozarks a few years ago. Down in MO, it’s considered a household classic, though I had never heard of it till then. - Mark of the Lion Series
Francine Rivers
Three books following the lives of a group of men and women living in the Roman Empire during the years AD. They’re quite good as far as novels go. I’m not easily moved by fiction, but the second (An Echo in the Darkness) actually brought tears! - The Cross and the Switchblade
David Wilkerson
A true story, written by the man who started Teen Challenge Ministries. - Paradise Lost
John Milton
The epic version of the Creation, Fall and Temptation of man. One of the most beautifully written books I’ve read in a long time. - Evidence That Demands a Verdict
Josh McDowell
A response to the more historical/scientific accuracy questions regarding the claims of Christianity and the Bible. - The Lord of the Rings Series
J.R.R. Tolkien
I haven’t read these since I was in the fourth grade, so I am currently reading through them again. They are proving to be even better the second time.
- The Chronicles of Narnia
C.S. Lewis
Must read classics for young and young at heart. I’d particularly like to highlight my favorite, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. - Don Quixote
Miguel de Cervantes
It would probably be appropriate to reference the book that inspired one of the themes of this blog. - The Bible
Even before I mention any favorite novel or topical non-fiction, I’d like to recommend reading what is currently my favorite book. It’s safe to say that there’s something in there for everyone: history and wars, poetry and prose, advice and encouragement, as well as an amazing love story of which we all are actively involved. I haven’t linked a specific version because there are many translations. I have an NIV (as well as NVI Esp and La Reina Valera) which is one of the most common. I guess I’m not too particular, though it is my personal opinion that some of the new ones have been watered down. Anyway, good book. Read.

Hi!
I’ve been enjoying looking around your blog this evening. I know I will continue to come back and enjoy it further. I really like how you write.
I read the Dream Giver too. Fantastic Book! So creative and it inspired me even further to write my own book!
I do want to read Evidence That Demands a Verdict. I’ve wanted to for quite some time now. I frequent friendly Christian’s blog where I have made friends with several atheists and feel this would be another good book to have under my belt.
Well, Happy New Year! It’s great to meet you!
Tam
